Tie Me Up

Fashion 101: If it's good enough for Beyonce, it's good enough for me.

When Queen B stepped out with a tiny two-toned miniaudiere a couple of months ago, I immediately thought need, want, now... just get into my closet

I have this reaction a lot so had almost forgotten about it until a chance browse on Reece Hudson's online site

The New York based designer Reece Solomon has been creeping on the scene since 2009. Her brand Reece Hudson has become synonymous with striking clutches and handbags that bridge luxe Italian craftsmanship with street style.

The particular clutch that caught my eye is the Bondage Miniaudiere. This curved hard body clutch features a interwoven snake closure and a saucy removable chain and cuff.

I love how secretly versatile this little clutch is. Wear it all together, as separate pieces or with the chain doubled over to form a handle.

The current colour ways available online are crowd pleasers. Think quirky acrylic with metallic foil, girly multi-coloured embroidery and classic monochrome.

I better start saving up.

Monday Music Muse (The Freedom Edition)

This week has been jam-packed with changes.

I said goodbye to my old job and hello to a new one. As many former employees would agree with me there is nothing like celebrating change with a spring in your step.

When I walked out of my last day today, I had George Michael's old school classic Freedom! 90 on repeat in my head.

Say what you want about George but you can't deny that the old cat managed to get first the 90s supermodels (Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Cindy Crawford, etc) and then Kate Moss to star in his videos 22 frigging years apart. Now that's impressive.

Freedom!

Punk Princesses

This pretty much sums up the Met Ball.

The Met Ball is hands down my favourite red carpet.

What makes this red carpet so special? Well thanks to yearly themes inspired by the current exhibition guests can step outside the usual frothy Marchesa-esque attire into the fun of high fashion. Each year brings shocks, beauties and woeful disappointments.

The biggest disappointments aren't the 'bad' fashion blunders but the failure to grasp hold of the theme and bring it.

This years theme was punk but you wouldn't have been able to tell by looking at a lot of the starlets, designers, models et al that made appearances. A large proportion of the guests were either too perplexed by punk or by the looks of things just didn't bother (I'm looking at you Heidi Klum).

That's why I think that the standout stars on this red carpet were the wackiest.

Come on, it's punk people.

For every plaid clad Madonna, there was a crisp white Katie Holmes. Yes, Katie looked breathtaking but she missed the point.

Punk fashion made a statement. Both the original rebellious, anti-materialistic subculture and the high fashion versions aimed to shock.

So what gets your vote? The pretty or the punk?

Monday Music Muse (The Punk Edition)

There is no denying that punk ripped its way into fashion infamy in the form of subverted symbolism, painful-looking jewellery and an over all dirty vibe.

The original punk fashion maven Vivienne Westwood sold her first pieces in Malcolm McLaren's boutique 'SEX' in the seventies. Yes the same Malcolm McLaren who managed the Sex Pistols.

So in honour of the Met Ball exhibition from Punk: Chaos to Couture, let's give some airplay to the originals.

Disclosure: I don't listen to punk music or know anything about punk (but that's what museums are for after all).

Pillow Fight

If your space is feeling a little tired, I've got a crazy simple pick-me-up solution for you. There is nothing quite as easy as throwing a cushion onto a couch, bed, floor, etc and calling it a day.

There are tons of options available from all over the net which are just bursting with personality. Here's a couple of my favourite quirky, graphic and bright cushions in gif form (a newly acquired skill).

Miss Masquerade's Musings (The What If Edition)

What if things hadn't turned sour between Tupac and Biggie?

If these two hip-hop legends laid down a track together, rather than against each other, chances are it would be awesome.

Lucky for us, Sydney production duo wordlife have teamed up with streetwear label For The Homies to reconciled these two rap heavyweights via a collaborative t-shirt and trailer.

Feast your eyes on their efforts below.

Want More?

I know, I know it's only 42 seconds long but you can listen to the full track on soundcloud. While you're at it make sure you dress the part in the limited edition collaborative t-shirt .
